Signed up to head out as crew this Sunday for some club racing. I was originally going to race my Flying Scot, but another member wanted crew on their Scot so I figured why not!

If it all fell through I would just go back to my plan on sailing my boat.

Sailing with someone else at the helm is always an adventure. How much are they going to lean on your expertise... their style... if they even know how to race...

I find that going from captain to crew is a delicate balance of listening and suggestions. Since I'll be running the jib, I don't mind telling the helmsman to head off or go up for a lifter. Beyond that I try and not question the strategy too much.

Either way, looking forward to hitting the water

I've been making lists. Year after year, I've made a few lists of things I've wanted to do or get done. I'm currently looking at a list I made two years ago. I have a list I made a year prior to that. They're similar sadly. It was time to get things done. I used to be a good blogger. Now I'm a poor one. I've got that on my list as something to fix. I'm hoping this blog will be a way to keep me on track and to keep me honest about it all.

There are things I want to see and things I want to do, but I'm staring down all these paths and not sure which route to take.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Currently this is my list:

  • Climb Mount Washington
  • Hike Something else
  • Camping
  • Moto Camping
  • Build Something
  • Make Humidor
  • Roll Cigars
  • Roast Coffee
  • Play Paintball
  • Surfing
  • Ice Boating
  • Fix Mast on Ice Boat
  • Paint VC-17 on Sail Boat
  • Need Spinnaker for Sail boat
  • Brew Beer
  • Make Kegorator
  • Make Mead - Strawberry Honey
  • Winter Project?
  • Balance tires on Triumph
  • Change gauges on Triumph
  • Water Skiing
  • Cut out Iceboat runners
  • Travel to Canada
  • Sailing
  • Snowmobile ride/tour
  • Travel to Motorcycle Event
  • Goto Triumph Event
  • Enter MGTF into Car Show
  • Dinner Train
  • Breakfast on Mt. Washington Boat
  • Trap Shooting
  • Go Somewhere Tropical - Have Beach Drink
  • Goto Masons

So that's my list.  Now to my credit I've done a few of those recently.  I suppose that since I wrote it two years ago it was only a matter of time before I did complete a few.

Living in New Hampshire, Mount Washington is the highest peak and the greatest challenge.  While first on my list it will most likely be the last item accomplished.

There is so much to do in life and frankly life in general can get in the way.  The day to day grind of work/life/kids/whatever right?  We forget to keep pushing forward on our personal education, life experiences and what not.  So these are mine and I'm going to spend the rest of this year trying to not only finish this list, but add onto this list.

Instead of saying "I wish I did x,y,z..."  I can say "I did x, y, z..."

So raise a glass for doing.

The old broken boat is now fixed, but in need of a new paint scheme. I've decided to paint it blue and black. The problem is, it's 20 degrees out and oil based paint just takes so darn long to stop being sticky at that temperature.

So I did the next best thing... I brought it all inside next to the fire

I'm sure the Mrs will enjoy our new center piece!
